July Book Haul
So, this month was my birthday and I also went to an awesome
bookshop called Charlie Byrne’s. Anyway,
they have an amazing selection and whilst I showed restraint, my bank account
didn’t come out completely unscathed. So yeah, I got some books and let’s talk
about them.
Shadows and Oblivion both by J. L Armentrout
These are both add ons to the Lux series which I have been
marathoning and want to get done before the end of August for sure. Shadows
follows Dawson and Bethany and how they came to be a couple I believe and
Oblivion is Obsidian from Daemon’s perspective. I can’t wait to get my teeth
into them.
Rumple Buttercup by Matthew Gray Gubler
So this is a picture book and from what I know Rumple lives
in a sewer with his imaginary friend. I love Matthew Gray Gubler, I think his
sense of humour is really funny. I’ve loved him as an actor for so long that I’m
excited to see his work as an author.
Some Kind of Wonderful by Giovanna Fletcher
This about a woman called Lizzy and her going through a
breakup. She learns what ways dating Ian changed her and who she is , not as
Ian’s partner anymore. I got this book from a friend and it seems like a really
good summer read and so I think I wanna read It before the end of August for
sure.
City of Girls by Elizabeth
Gilbert
Another book a friend gave me that I think is perfect for summer
is City of Girls. Its set in 40s New York and Vivian and Celia are on some sort
of adventure. I just think it’ll be a light read which feels like the perfect
distraction to the current goings on in the world.
On Writing by Stephen King
Long story short I’m always writing so my parents thought
this would be a good idea. I am always looking to improve my skills so I’m
excited to see what the king of horror has in terms of tips and tricks.
Joy Ride by John Lahr
So I study theatre and thought this book would be useful to
pick up. Its essentially a bunch of interviews with playwrights, directors and productions.
They’re all conducted by John Lahr a renowned theatre theatre critic. I thought maybe there would be some advice in the interviews on how to put on a successful performance.
The Faith Machine by Alexi Kaye Campbell
The final book is a play of a New York couple who move to a
remote Greek Island and their journey on it. Not gonna lie I watched Mamma Mia
and Mamma Mia 2 a day before buying this and was lusting after Greece. O yes
impulse buy but it was €5 and I couldn’t leave it.
So yeah that was my book haul. It wasn’t meant to brag it
was just to give an idea of what might be coming up on the blog.
